Mayor Morris
May 7, 1990
Page 2
The only future relief is to attract more taxpayers to San
Marcos to share the burden of payment through tax base
expansion, increasing sales tax revenues through improved
commerce, and prudent use of public monies.
As your mayor, I am committed to providing the
leadership that will concentrate on basic city services:
Fire, Police, Water, Wastewater, Streets and Solid Waste
Management to meet the needs of an expanding population.
Additionally, I will encourage clean, water conserving
and diverse industry to provide local jobs and tax revenues
to help relieve the burden for existing residential and
business property taxpayers.
It is my hope that San Marcos can turn this page of our
history and leave behind the negativism that we have recently
experienced. We must move forward--together--to maintain a
positive course for progress using the many resources of our
diverse, multi-cultural city.
And what assets we have! Our river, our location and,
most of all, the creative minds' of our citizens who dedicate
their hearts and time to the cultural, environmental and
economic development of our community.
There is room for and a great need for all people
working together as a team--regardless of our differences--to
achieve the vision that we share for the 1990's.
