73 RF.~OLTíTION lQ9()- ___62 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A PROPOSED AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE PORT OF CORPUS CHRISTI FOR FOREIGN-TRADE ZONE SUBZONE AFFILIATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY: AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Port of Corpus Christi Authority of Nueces County, Texas ("Port") operates Foreign-Trade Zone No. 122 under applicable federal law: and, WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos, Texas (IICityll) has determined that it is in the best interest of the San Marcos Community to ask the Port to provide Foreign-Trade Subzones under the Port's Foreign-Trade Zone to businesses within San Marcos desiring subzone status: and, WHEREAS, the Port has determined that it is in its best interest to assist the City in providing Foreign Trade Subzones in the San Marcos area because these Subzones can reasonably be expected to generate revenue and goodwill for the Port; and, WHEREAS, the City finds that the execution of the attached agreement for Foreign-Trade Zone Subzone Affiliation will bolster the business c 1 ima te throughout the City for the purpose of creating new jobs and increasing business activity in the City: now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. That the terms and conditions of the Foreign-Trade Zone Affiliation agreement between the City and the Port attached to this Resolution as Attachment 1 are hereby approved. PART 2. That the City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is hereby authorized to execute this agreement on behalf of the City. PART 3.
