and states /cities in which they have lived or worked, and searches of local papers where
the candidates have lived or worked. In addition, the Consultant will also search social
media sites for information about the candidates. These Media Reports typically range
from 20 -300 pages per candidate and may include news articles, links to video
interviews, blog posts by residents, etc. and are developed in an easy -to -read format and
recorded onto flash drives for the Search Committee. The candidate's name is
highlighted each time it appears. The Consultant's media reports have proven helpful to
Search Committees by uncovering issues that were not previously disclosed by
candidates and that would not have been discovered through a quick Internet search. The
Media Reports also give the Search Committee an overview of the type and extent of
press coverage that a candidate has experienced over the course of his /her career.
2) Comprehensive Background Investigation Reports. Provide the City with comprehensive
background screening reports through its partnership with First Check, a licensed private
investigations company that include detailed information such as:
a) Social Security number trace;
b) Address history;
c) Driving history /motor vehicle records;
d) Credit report;
e) Federal criminal search;
f) National criminal search;
g) Nationwide wants and warrants;
h) Global homeland security search;
i) Sex offender registry search;
j) State criminal search (for current and previous states of residence);
k) County criminal search (for every county in which candidate has lived or worked);
1) County civil search (for every county in which the candidate has lived or worked);
and
m) Education verification.
3) Psychometric Assessment. Utilize the DiSC Management assessment tool, to ensure that
the right candidate is placed in this position. The Consultant will provide a DISC
Management Profile that analyzes and reports comprehensively on the candidate's
preferences in management style, directing and delegating, motivation, development of
others, and working with his /her own manager.
4) Stakeholder Engagement. Work closely with the City and Council members to engage
stakeholders in the recruitment process. The Consultant will design a specific
stakeholder engagement process after learning more about the City and the San Marcos
community. The Consultant will collaborate with the City Council to determine which of
the following options, or combination of options, are the most effective for the unique
needs of the City. Any or all options may be selected at no additional cost to the City.
a) Interview community leaders at the outset of the search;
CITY HALL • 630 EAST HOPKINS • SAN MARCOS, TEXAS 78666.512.393.8150 • FACSIMILE 512.393.3983
CI.SANMARCOSTX.GOv
6
