<br /> 88 <br /> RESOLUTION 1990- 98 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A TEXAS <br /> TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS <br /> DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT PROGRAM <br /> CONTRACT AND RELATED DOCUMENTS; AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> v-JHEREAS, the City of San Marcos recognizes that the establishment, <br /> development, and maintenance of a program of traffic safety in the <br /> State is a vital government purpose and function of the State and its <br /> political subdivisions; and, <br /> WHEREAS, a traffic safety grant will provide benefits to the City <br /> in the form of a reduction in the number of accidents and the resulting <br /> loss of lives and property damage; and, <br /> WHEREAS, funds have been established and are available through the <br /> Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation for grants to <br /> lcoal governments for traffic safety projects; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the City of San Marcos authorizes the submission of <br /> an application to the Texas Department of Highways and Public <br /> Transportation for a Traffic Safety Grant. <br /> PART 2. That if the project is selected for funding, the City <br /> Manager, Larry D. Gilley is hereby authorized and empowered to execute <br /> in the name of the City all necessary applications, contracts and <br /> agreements to implement and carry out the purposes specified in this <br /> resolution. <br /> PART 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect <br /> from and after its passage. <br /> ADOPTED this 27th day of Augus , 199 ~~ <br /> Kath M. <br /> Atte~?I ¿rf~ Mayor <br /> ~s K.
