<br /> 119 <br /> RESOLUTION 1990- 107 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIl.. OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, AFFIRMING THE CITY'S OPPOSITION TO THE <br /> PROPOSED DEMOLITION OF SAN MARCOS (CARROLL) HALL ON THE <br /> WEST CAMPUS OF SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY; AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos supports the preservation of <br /> the historical heritage of the City, Southwest Texas state <br /> University and Hays County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, San Marcos (Carroll) Hall on the West Campus of <br /> Southwest Texas State University has been proposed for demolition <br /> by the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System; and, <br /> WHEREAS, San Marcos (Carroll) Hall proudly bears a Texas <br /> Historical Medallion as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark <br /> structure; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, in a Resolution dated August 13, <br /> 1990, previously expressed its opposition to the proposed <br /> demolition of San Marcos (Carroll) Hall; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Hays County Historical Commission, the County of <br /> Hays, and the Heritage Association of San Marcos are prepared to <br /> initiate litigation in order to obtain an injunction against the <br /> proposed demolition; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has declined to participate in such <br /> litigation, but desires to express the continued opposition of the <br /> City to the proposed demolition; ~ow, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the City of San Marcos hereby affirms its <br /> opposition to the proposed demolition of San Marcos (Carroll) Hall <br /> on the West Campus of Southwest Texas State University. <br /> PART 2.
