Submit <br /> samples to Engineer for selection and approval. <br /> c. Preparing: <br /> (1) Joints and spaces to be sealed and caulked shall be <br /> clean, dry, and free of dust. Clean metal surfaces with solvent to <br /> remove all surface oils and temporary protective coating. Prime all <br /> surfaces where recommended by manufacturer. <br /> d. Installing I <br /> (1) All joints to receive liquid polymer sealant shall <br /> be backed with joint backing material to eliminate back bond. Where <br /> width of liquid polymer joint is 1/2 inch wide or less, prepare <br /> joint so depth of caulking bead is approximately equal to its <br /> width. Where width of liquid polymer joint exceeds 1/2 inch, <br /> prepare joint so depth of caulking bead is approximately equal to <br /> 1/2 its width. Use appropriate joint backing and joint filler <br /> material, as specified hereinabove. <br /> (2) Tool all exposed joints to smooth, even, <br /> wrinkle-free, slightly concave surface. Mask adjacent surfaces if <br /> required to prevent smearing or staining of same. Remove masking <br /> before sealant sets up. <br /> 8-06 ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOF: <br /> a. Generals This section includes, but is not limited to <br /> asphalt shingle roofing and other related items necessary to <br /> complete the project as indicated by the documents unless <br /> specifically excluded. <br /> b.
