originally anticipated, and our level of effort had to be expanded
several days to accommodate the errors made by LCRA in the
submission of RFI materials which was discussed in our letter of
June -11, 1990. And, Mr. Kahn has recently requested that we
prepare exhibits for his cross-examination based on the work we did
during our original analysis, and we have done this.
Given the changing manner in which this hearing has progressed, it
will be difficult for us to give a one-time estimate of additional
costs. Mr. Kahn has told me that he believes the introduction of
friendly cross will add at least two weeks to the hearing, and that
I should anticipate having to spend additional time in the hearing
for same. I have attempted to make a very conservative estimate
of the additional level of effort v-lh i ch is anticipated, based on
hearing progress to date. This estimate is $13,000 for additional
effort. Of course, if the additional level of effort turns out to
be less than this amount, we t"1 ill simply stop work when complete
and final bi 11 the account for work actually done.
Therefore, we are requesting that the cap on our contract be raised
an additional $13,000, from not-to-exceed $15,000 to not-to-exceed
$28,000. As before, both we and Mr. Kahn will keep you informed
of hearing progress in case any other unforseen corrections are
required.
Thank you for choosing us to perform these services. We hope that
you understand that we completed our original scope within budget
and that this extension of charge limits is based on completely
unforeseeable circumstances. Please call us if you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
E. P. Rami 1 ton III, Ph .
