Exhibit 4
REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL CLG GRANT ASSISTANCE
FY ~990
Certified Local Government: The City of San marcos - Historical Preservation
Commission - FY 1990
Amount Requested: $1000.00
Amount of Match: $1000.00 (cash

$2000.00 'IDI'AL
Source(s) of Match and Date Available: Historical Preservation Commission
staff and professional researchers time
volunteer labor for installation
Please attach a proposed budget.
Proposed Project Description (include brief paragraph covering
scope of work, audience, public benefits, and time frame):
The San Marcos Historical Preservation Corrmission is pursuing the local
marker program to coordinate it with the developænt of the walking and
driving tour brochures. We have determined that many of the sites wollid
require roadside mounting rather than building rrounting. The cost of roadside
poles >-¡ould be $40.00 and the cost of installation wollid be $40.00 per pole.
This would require an additional $2000.00 if all markers were to be roadside
markers. The markers that we could obtain fer the arrount already budgetted
are 5 1/2" x 8" in size. They are too small to be seen fran the road or side-
walk. They are also generic, that is without codes or site specific text.
Generic markers would require brochure explanation by address in order to
convey significant infornation. It would be a greater benefit to the people
of San Marcos and the visiting public to tie the marker program to the \valk.ing
and driving tour brochure program.
~~~epresentative
c¡ . /4 . 19<J¿)
Date
