<br />60 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1989-14R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, NOMINATING AN AREA AS AN ENTERPRISE ZONE <br />PURSUANT TO THE TEXAS ENTERPRISE ZONE ACT (VERNON'S <br />ANN. CIV. ST. ART. 5190.7); PROVIDNG TAX INCENTIVES; <br />DESIGNATING A LIAISON TO ACT AS THE CITY'S AUTHORIZED <br />REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S <br />NOMINATION OF AN AREA AS AN ENTERPRISE ZONE AND TO ITS <br />DESIGNATION AS SUCH BY THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />COMMERCE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas desires <br />to create the proper economic and social environment to induce the <br />investment of private resources in productive business enterprises <br />located in an economically distressed area of the city and to provide <br />employment to residents of such area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain conditions exist in such area which represent a <br />threat to the health, safety and welfare of the people of such area; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interest of the City to <br />nominate such area as an enterprise zone pursuant to the Texas <br />Enterprise Zone Act (Vernon's Ann. Civ. St. art. 5190.7) (the "Act")¡ <br />now, therefore; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City hereby nominates the area set within the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, more particularly described below as an <br />enterprise zone in accordance with the Act: <br /> <br />Beginning at the intersection of the Northeast ROW line of <br />Centerpoint Road and the Southeast ROW line of Hunter Road (FM <br />2439): <br /> <br />Thence, with said Southeast ROW line of Hunter Road in a <br />generally Northeasterly direction to its intersection with the <br />Southern ROW line of San Antonio Street. <br /> <br />Thence, with the Southern ROW line of San Antonio Street in a <br />Northeasterly direction to its intersection with the West corner <br />of Block 2 of the J. Tho~as Addition to said City. <br /> <br />Thence, in a Southeasterly direction along the boundary of said <br />Block a distance of 180 feet (more or less) to the Southwest <br />corner of said Block. <br /> <br />Thence, in an East-Southeasterly direction to the intersection <br />of a projection of said lot line with the Southeast ROW line of <br />Martin Luther King Drive. <br /> <br />Thence, with the Southeast ROW line of Martin Luther King Drive <br />in a Northeasterly direction to its intersection with the <br />Southwest ROW line of Mitchell Avenue. <br /> <br />Thence, with the Southwest ROW line of Mitchell Avenue in a <br />Southeasterly direction to its intersection with the centerline <br />of Purgatory Creek. <br /> <br />Thence, with the centerline of Purgatory Creek in a North- <br />easterly curving to a Southeasterly direction to its <br />intersection with the Southwest ROW line of Jackman Street. <br /> <br />Thence, with the Southwest ROW line of Jackman Street in a <br />Southeasterly direction to its intersection with the North ROW <br />line of Purgatory/Gravel Street. <br /> <br />Thence, with the projection of the North ROW line of <br />Purgatory/Gravel Street in a Northeasterly direction to its <br />intersection with the West ROW line of Guadalupe Street. <br /> <br />Thence, with the West ROW line of Guadalupe Street South to its <br />intersection with the Northwest ROW line of Interstate Highway <br />35. <br />
