Hutchison
San Marcos, Texas 78666
Dear Mr. Engel:
I am writing to express my support for your efforts to secure a
federal grant that will assist those persons for whom ßnglish
is a second language.
As Site Director for Refugee Rights, Inc., an organization that
assists Amnesty applicants in complying with the Immigration
Reform and Control Act of 1986, I am interested in seeing that
educational and occupational services be provided for the
Amnesty population. Since the learning of English is a
reQuirement for the majority of the Amnesty population, I am
pleased to see that the San Marcos Public Library has the
flexibility to offer day, night, and weekend English instruction.
Since the Amnesty population must demonstrate a history of
employment to become permanent residents, I am pleasea to see
your efforts in providing resources to develop job search skills
for the English as a second language population. Your efforts
will help the temporary residents of your county become permanent
contributing members of your community. I look forward to your
development of a bi-lingual employment, vocational, and training
resources directory, and I strongly support your efforts in
securing grant approval for these endeavors.
Sincerely,
~]).('~k
Stanley b.
