<br /> 164 <br />STATE OF TEXAS I <br /> MUTUAL AID LAY~ ENFORCEMENT AGREEMENT <br /> I BETWEEN THE COUNTIES OF COMAL, <br /> GUADALUPE, AND HAYS AND THE CITIES OF <br />COUNTIES OF COMAL, I NEW BRAUNFELS AND SAN MARCOS <br />GUADALUPE AND HAYS <br /> This Mutual Aid Law Enforcement Agreement (this "Agreement"), is <br />entered into by and between the County of Comal, the County of <br />Guadalupe, the County of Hays, the City of New Braunfels, and the City <br />of San Marcos, counties and home-rule municipalities, respectively, of <br />the State of Texas, duly acting herein by and through their County <br />Commissioners Courts and City Councils, respectively, to carry out <br />the intent and purposes of this Agreement. <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 362 of the Local Government Code, <br />V.T.C.A., the State legislature has authorized the formation of mutual <br />aid law enforcement task forces to cooperate in criminal investigations <br />and law enforcement, providing for the investigation of criminal <br />activity and enforcement of the laws of the State of Texas by and <br />through cooperative agreements; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Counties of Comal, Guadalupe and Hays and the cities <br />of New Braunfels and San Marcos have applied for grant funds to <br />establish a mutual aid law enforcement task force to be known as the <br />Tri-County Multi-Agency Special Law Enforcement Unit to implement and <br />improve services to the respective jurisdictions by collecting <br />information, investigating, detecting, apprehending and prosecuting <br />individuals involved in major crimes and narcotics related crimes; and, <br /> WHEREAS, as a condition to the grant each 9f the above-referenced <br />local governments desire to enter into this Agreement to provide for <br />the various terms and conditions necessary to the use of the grant <br />funds and implementation of the objectives of the task force; and, <br />
