<br /> 165 <br /> RESOLUTION 1989-40R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br /> APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE <br /> GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE COUNTIES OF <br /> COMAL, GUADALUPE AND HAYS AND THE CITY OF NE\fJ <br /> BRAUNFELS, APPROVING A COMMITMENT OF $2,775.00 AS THE <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS' CONTRIBUTION TO THE GRANT AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the counties of Comal, Guadalupe and Hays and the cities <br /> of New Braunfels and San Marcos desire to join together to submit an <br /> application for funding of a Tri-County Multi-Agency Special Law <br /> Enforcment Unit to the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's <br /> Office; and, <br /> WHEREAS, said Tri-County Multi-Agency Special Law Enforcement Unit <br /> will operate to detect and apprehend criminal offenders; increase the <br /> efficiency of law enforcement investigation; combat the traveling <br /> career criminal; target major crimes, including burglary, robbery, <br /> child abuse, the fencing of stolen property and narcotics related <br /> crime; and target career criminals generally; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the City Council supports and approves of an <br /> application to the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Off ice <br /> seeking funding for a Tri-County Multi-Agency Special Law Enforcement <br /> Unit, a copy of which application is attached hereto and incorporated <br /> herein for all purposes. <br /> PART 2. That the commitment of $2,775.00 is hereby approved as <br /> the City's contribution to the grant which will be administered by the <br /> County of Comal, by and through i;ts County Judge, Fred Clark. <br /> PART 3. That the ~1ayor of the City of San Marcos, Kathy M. <br /> Morris, and the City Manager, Larry Gilley, are authorized to take any <br /> appropriate actions to facilitate the grant application, its submission <br /> and approval by the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office. <br /> PART 4.
