City of San Marcos
630 East Hopkins
San Marcos. Texas 78666
Dear Mayor Morris:
Composite Technology Engine Components (~CTEC~) is a newly formed New York
General Partnership. which is equally owned by the General Electric Company and Rohr
Industries. CTEC plans to manufacture jet engine components made from organic
composites for General Electric. as well as Rolls Royce. Pratt and Whitney, and other
customers.
The proposed CTEC factory for San Marcos. Texas. consists of acquiring 17.2 acres of
property in the city limits. and constructing a 145.000 square foot building. We also
commit that major capital equipment will be purchased and installed in the facility during
1990 summarized as follows:
1 0'x20' Autoclave $ 640.000
5 Axis CNC Mill !.1.400. 000
Total $2.040.000
Infrastructure supplying water to the site is an additional $720.000. CTEC is committing
to finance the $2.040.000 with internal capital resources. which have been included in our
1989/1990 Capital Budget. CTEC has requested that the city of San Marcos make all
infrastructure water improvements to the site as a condition of our location decision.
I must emphasize that without the $720.000 infrastructure improvements from the city of
San Marcos, CTEC cannot proceed with this project. CTEC's financial commitment for
this project is contingent upon the city of San Marcos receiving a $500.000 infrastructure
grant from the Texas Department of Commerce Capital Fund Program.
Sincerely.
- -- - --.....
) - (.
/_-~- --, - 1---,...
