<br />25 <br />Regular Meeting January 23, 1984 Page 2 <br />Mr. Guerra then moved to reappoint Dan Farlow, James E. Smith, Margie <br />Villalpando, Ollie Giles and Geneva Gomez, and Mr. Brown seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of the recommen- <br />dations of the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Bond Election April 7, <br />1984. Mayor Craddock moved to approve the recommendations of the <br />Blue Ribbon Committee as to the General Fund and Ms. Kissler seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Brown said he would like to see the Barbara Drive <br />street and drainage project added to the street and drainage recommen- <br />dations, but after discussion he decided not to amend to add this item, <br />as the Council will have the option to place this money in the priority <br />needs of the City, which could fund the Barbara Drive project in the <br />future if the Council determined it to be a priority project. Mr. <br />Guerra moved the telesquirt be eliminated from the bond program, but <br />the motion failed for lack of a second. Joel Barnard and Augustin <br />Lucio of the Blue Ribbon Committee both spoke in favor of the tele- <br />squirt because our city is growing and we now have many two and three <br />story structures that could utilize this equipment in a fire. Mr. <br />Brown moved the Public Works Complex in the amount of $700,000.00 <br />be presented on the ballot as a combination project of 1/3 utility <br />fund and 2/3 general fund and Ms. I\:issler seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously in favor of <br />the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Committee for the General Fund. <br />The Council then considered the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon <br />Committee for the Utility Fund. Mayor Craddock moved to approve <br />$6.2 million for Waterworks Improvements and Mr. Brown seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br />The following is a breakdown on the items to be on the April 7, 1984 <br />Election Ballot: <br />GENERAL FUND <br />Streets and Drainage $4,000,000.00 <br />Parks and Recreation 400,000.00 <br />Topo Map 100,000.00 <br />Cemetery 100,000.00 <br />Traffic Lights 250,000.00 <br />Fire Department Telesquirt 300,000.00 <br />Library 450,000.00 <br />COMBINATION UTILITY FUND <br />AND GENERAL FUND <br />Public Works Complex <br />1/3 Utility Fund <br />2/3 General Fund 700,000.00 <br />UTILITY FUND <br />Waterworks Improvements 6,200,000.00. <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance <br />on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br />
