<br /> 150 <br /> RESOLUTION 1989-84R <br /> A RR.CiOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN <br /> ENHANCED 9-1-1 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBER, APPROVING <br /> THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 9-1-1 FEE AND SURCHARGE IN <br /> SAN MARCOS, APPROVING THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE <br /> 9-1-1 REGIONAL PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 1432F <br /> OF VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTTES, AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone Number is a dedicated <br /> nationwide emergency number for police, fire and ambulance which <br /> provides major lifesaving advantages to citizens and public safety <br /> agencies; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Article 1432f, of the Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, as <br /> amended, authorizes the establishment of the Advisory Commission on <br /> State Emergency Communications and the implementation of Enhanced 9-1-1 <br /> Emergency Telephone Systems in Texas; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Article 1432f authorizes the implementation of 9-1-1 <br /> through the development of regional plans and allows for counties <br /> having a population of 120,000 or less and cities within those counties <br /> to participate in the plan by resolution of their governing bodies; <br /> and, <br /> WEHREAS, Article 1432f authorizes the Advisory Commission on State <br /> Emergency Communications to estalbish in areas participating in the <br /> pIan, a 9-1-1 service fee of not more than 50 cents a month per local <br /> exchange access line and a 9-1-1 surcharge on each customer receiving <br /> intrastate long-distance service of not more than one-half percent; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos provides <br /> its support to the establishment of an enhanced 9-1-1 Emergency <br /> Telephone Number and the implementation of the 9-1-1 fee and surcharge <br /> in San Marcos, Texas, and chooses to participate in the 9-1-1 regional <br /> plan in accordance with Article 1432f. <br /> PART 2.
