<br /> 19 <br /> RESOLUTION 1989-l04R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN HARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE <br /> SUmUSSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A <br /> TRAFFIC LIGHT SYNCHRONIZATION PROGRAM IN THE <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos recognizes that it <br /> is in the interest of the national economy to promote the conservation <br /> of energy resources and to reduce our nation's dependence on costly <br /> foreign oil; and, <br /> HHEREAS, the retiming of signals by the city of San Marcos will <br /> provide benefits to the local community in the form of improved <br /> traffic flow, reduced fuel consumption, reduced vehicle operating <br /> costs, reduced air pollutant emlSSlons, and improved safety due to <br /> smoother traffic flow: and, <br /> vlHEREAS, funds have been established and are available through the <br /> state Department of Highways and Public Transportation for a traffic <br /> light synchronization grant; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXl\S: <br /> PART 1. That the submission of a grant application for a traffic <br /> light synchronization program is hereby authorized, approved and <br /> ratified. <br /> PART 3.
