<br />146 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1988-27 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A PROCEDURE BY WHICH THE <br />SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT MOUNTED PATROL MAY SELL OR <br />TRADE A POLICE MOUNT UNSUITABLE FOR POLICE EQUESTRIAN <br />SERVICE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a necessity to establish a procedure whereby the <br />San Marcos Police Department Mounted Patrol may sell or trade any <br />police mount deemed unsuitable for police service; and, <br /> <br />~mEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos has determined <br />that it is in the best interest of the San Marcos Police Department <br />Mounted Patrol to sell or trade any police mount deemed unfit: now, <br />there fore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />COUNCI L OF <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />CITY OF <br /> <br />SAN <br /> <br />~1ARCOS , <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That a new Article VI, Mounted Patrol Services, be <br />added to Chapter 21, Public Safety, of the code of Ordinances of the <br />City of San Marcos, as follows: <br /> <br />II Se c. 21- 60 . <br /> <br />Unsuitable Police Mount. <br /> <br />The following procedures are established for dismissing from <br />police service any police mount, equine or horse which is found <br />to be unsuitable for police work: <br /> <br />(a) That upon the determination of the San Marcos Police <br />Department Mounted Patrol Supervisor that a police mount <br />is unsuitable for service, the mount will be sold or <br />traded for goods or services equal to the fair market <br />value of same; and, <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Said police mount will <br />offering the best <br />determined by the <br />from the date the mount <br />unsuitable. <br /> <br />be sold or traded to the person <br />or highest value or trade, as <br />City Manager, within 60 days <br />was declared in writing to be <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />That upon the sale or trade of any such police mount, <br />records of the services or goods received therefor, <br />shall be maintained by the City Manager. <br /> <br />SECTION 2.
