30 RESOLUTION 1986-37R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS ì'lITH THE EDWARDS UNDERGROUND WATER DISTRICT FOR A PERMIT TO TRANSPORT WATER FROM THE EDWARDS UNDERGROUND WATER DISTRICT~ AUTHORIZING THE CITY MM~AGER TO EXECUTE SAID APPLICA'rION AND ANY OTHER RELATED DOCUMENTS; AND, DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos (hereinafter referred to as "City"), is cognizant of the current and projected growth immediately north of its corporate limits; and, WHEREAS, in an effort to manage this growth and adequately provide necessary services the City has developed a service plan for the north San Marcos service area and has consented to the creation of four municipal utility districts~ and, ìvHEREAS, as a part of the City's service plan a water supply must be secured and water made available to the north San Marcos service area, specifically to the four municipal utility districts consented to by the City~ and, WHEREAS, the City has reviewed its needs and responsibilities for providing water to the north San Marcos service area and has evaluated sources for such water; and, WHEREAS, the application for and securing of a water transport permit from the Edwards Underground ìvater District (hereinafter referred to as "District"), appears to be the most practical and economical approach to providing water to the north San Marcos area until other water supply sources are developed; nO\'l, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. That the declarations, findings, and facts contained, recited, or repeated in the preamble of this Resolution and Order are made a part hereof and are hereby adopted as found and declared to be true and complete. PART 2. That an application be prepared in the name of the City of San Marcos for filing with the Edwards Underground Water District for a permit to transport water from the District to the North San Marcos Service Area. PART 3. That the City Manager for the City of San Marcos is authorized and directed to sign and file such application on behalf of the City and to take such other actions as are necessary or required to secure approval of the application at the earliest possible date.
