<br /> 52 <br /> RESOLUTION 1985-28R <br /> A RE ro WTI ON OF 'THE CITY COUNCIL OF 'THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING 'THE TERMS OF A PREAPPLlCATION <br /> FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE 10 EXPAND 'THE SAN MARCOS FUBLIC <br /> LIBRARY BY MEANS OF A LIBRARY SERVICES AND CDNS'IRUCTION <br /> ACT TITLE II GRANT; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR 10 EXæUTE <br /> SAID PREAPPLICATION ON BEHALF OF SAID CI'IY; AUTHORI ZING <br /> THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION IF APPROPRIATE AND <br /> DæLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of S:m Marcos, Texas, could be eligible to <br /> recei ve up to $100,000 for library construction projects by applying <br /> for a Library Services and Construction Act (LOCA) Title II grant; and, <br /> WHEREAS, there currently exists a critical need to expand reader <br /> space, shelving space and workspace at the San ~1arcos Public Library; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the expansion of the 10,416 square foot building <br /> which currently houses the San Marcos Public Libary by 9,500 square <br /> feet will allow the Library to meet desirable minimum space <br /> standards for the pcpulation it serves; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Master Plan for San Marcos, Texas states as an <br /> objective the expansion of the Library; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in April 1984 the San Marcos voters gave approval to the <br /> City to issue $450,000 in general obligation oonds to expand the <br /> library building, now, therefore, <br /> BE IT REroLVED BY THE CITY CDUNCIL OF 'THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the terms, conditions and representations of the <br /> Preapplication For Federal Assistance for funding in the amount of <br /> $100,000 by means of a Library Services and Construction Act Title II <br /> grant for a project to expand the San Marcos Public Library located at <br /> 310 W. Hutchison Street in said City by 9,500 square feet, a copy of <br /> which Preapplication is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated <br /> herein for all purposes, are hereby approved. <br /> PART 2. That those assurances required by said Act, shown on the <br /> attached Exhibit B, which is incorporated herein for all purposes, are <br /> hereby approved. <br /> PART 3. That the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas, Ehlmie <br /> Craddock, is hereby authorized to execute said Preapplica tion for <br /> Federal Assistance on behalf of said City. <br /> PART 4. That Stephanie I.angenkamp, Library Director for the City <br /> of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby authorized to file said Preapplication <br /> on behalf of said City and act as the official representative of the <br /> said City in connection with said Preapplication and to provide such <br /> additional information as may be required. <br /> PART 5. That Stephanie I.angenkamp is hereby authorized to file an <br /> applica tion on behalf of the City and act as the official <br /> representati ve of the City in connection with the application if <br /> invi ted to do so by that Texas State Library and Archives Canmi t tee. <br /> That the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas, Ehlmie Craddock, is <br /> hereby authorized to execute said application (if one is invited) and <br /> any other related documents that are necessary to secure said grant. <br /> PART 6.
