ORDINANCE NO. 2014-06 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 2.351 OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE COMPOSITION OF THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD BY ADDING THE MAIN STREET MANAGER AS A SEVENTH NON - VOTING EX- OFFICIO MEMBER; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 2.351 of the San Marcos City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates added text and strikethroughs indicate deleted text): Sec. 2.351. Created; composition; terms; officers. (a) The convention and visitors bureau advisory board is created, composed of 13 voting members appointed by the city council as described in subsection (b), and s4*seven non - voting ex- officio members: the city manager or a designee of the city manager, the president of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, the chair and vice -chair of the board of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, a representative designated by Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos, -a*d the economic development director of [the] Greater San Marcos Partnership or a designee of the partnership president, and the Main Street Manager.. (b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board: No. of Representing appointments 1 City Council (Council Member) 1 Hotel /motel industry in the city 1 Owner /general manager /senior manager of a hotel/motel in the city (90 or more rooms) 1 Owner /general manager /senior manager of a hotel/motel in the city (less than 90 rooms) 1 Owners /general managers /senior management of tourist attractions located in the city
