I I I RESOLUTION NO. 2007- 212 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR TOURISM PROMOTIONAL SERVICES DURING THE CITY'S 2007-2008 FISCAL YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THIS CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. State statutes authorize Texas cities to collect an occupancy tax on hotel and motel rooms, and allow cities to make expenditures from the proceeds of this occupancy tax for certain purposes. 2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has levied a hotel occupancy tax in Article 5 of Chapter 78 of the San Marcos City Code. 3. The City Council wishes to contract with the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce for the administration of a portion of the funds collected from the hotel occupancy tax, for purposes of providing tourism promotional services for the San Marcos area. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The Convention and Visitor Bureau budget of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce for the 2007-2008 fiscal year, a copy of which is attached to the contract approved in Part 2 below, is approved. PART 2. The attached Contract for Tourism Promotional Services between the City and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce for the administration offunds collected under Article 5 of Chapter 78 of the City Code and Chapter 351, Texas Tax Code, is approved. PART 3. The Interim City Manager, Collette Jamison, is authorized to execute this contract on behalf of the City. PART 4. This Resolution is in full force and effect from and after its passage.
