<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2008- 7 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND <br />EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT TO INITIATE AND DEVELOP <br />THE EDWARDS AQUIFER RECOVERY IMPLEMENT A TION PROGRAM <br />(EARIP) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECIT ALS: <br /> <br />1. The 80TH Session of the Texas Legislature established the goals of the Edwards Aquifer <br />Recovery Implementation Program (EARIP) which include reviewing and developing <br />sound scientific research, analysis and other measures to understand and meet the needs <br />of the Edwards Species and balance those needs with overall water use and supply in the <br />Edwards Aquifer Region. <br />2. The goals of the EARIP also include developing and completing an implementing <br />agreement by December 31,2009 and developing a program document by September 1, <br />2012 which may include a habitat conservation plan for Edwards Species, <br />3. The City of San Marcos is committed to work cooperatively with other stakeholders in a <br />consensus-based process consistent with the purposes of the EARIP. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART I, The Interim City Manager is authorized to accept and execute the Memorandum <br />of Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit "A" in order to formally initiate the development and <br />implementation of the Edwards Aquifer Recovery Implementation Program, <br /> <br />PART 2.
