RESOLUTION NO. 2015-59R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 418.108 OF THE TEXAS <br />GOVERNMENT CODE DECLARING AND EXTENDING A LOCAL <br />STATE OF DISASTER IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS DUE <br />TO RECENT HISTORIC FLOODING. <br />RECITALS: <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos has suffered widespread severe property damage, <br />injuries and loss of life resulting from devastating, historic floods that occurred on Sunday, May <br />24, 2015 when the Blanco River rose above 40 feet; <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Disaster Act, Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code, <br />allows the City of San Marcos to seek State aid in the case of a disaster defined as the imminent <br />threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any <br />natural or man -made cause including flooding; <br />WHEREAS, Section 418.108 of the Texas Disaster Act authorizes this Resolution <br />declaring and extending a local state of disaster, <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The continuation of a declaration of a local state of disaster is made by the <br />San Marcos City Council this 28`h day of May, 2015. <br />PART 2. The declaration shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be <br />promptly filed with the City Clerk as required by Section 418.108(c) of the Texas Disaster Act. <br />PART 3.
