RESOLUTION NO. 2009- 45 R <br />• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING SUBMISSION OF A <br />COPS HIRING RECOVERY PROGRAM GRANT <br />APPLICATION PURSUANT TO THE OMNIBUS SPENDING <br />BILL TO PAY THE SALARIES AND BENEFITS OF SIX (6) <br />ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS FOR A THIRTY SIX (36) <br />MONTH PERIOD IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,217,100; <br />OBLIGATING THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO FUND SUCH <br />POSITIONS WITH LOCAL FUNDS FOR AT LEAST AN <br />ADDITIONAL TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIOD; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The submission of a COPS Hiring Recovery Grant Application pursuant to the <br />Omnibus Spending bill approved by Congress is approved to pay the salaries and benefits of six <br />(6) additional police officers for a period of thirty six (36) months in the sum of $1,217,100. <br />• PART 2. The grant covenant to retain these six (6) additional police officers for at least <br />twelve (12) additional months following the thirty six (36) months covered by the grant and to <br />pay their salaries and benefits with local funds is hereby approved. <br />PART 3.
