(1) <br />Gay Villareal lives in the Crockett School neighborhood and <br />expressed concern for the safety of children walking to school in <br />that area. She collected signatures and presented them to the <br />Council of parents who were concerned for children's safety. The <br />Council suggested she talk with Dr. Anderson of SMCISD to determine <br />if it is possible the children within a two-mile area be bused <br />because of the safety problem. Also it was discussed there may be a <br />need for school guard crossings in the area. (2) Ron Jager <br />addressed the Old Christian Church Building issue to state he is of <br />the opinion there is grant funding available the city should seek <br />for the project. He proposed a plan for parking, an elevator and <br />thinks CDBG funds should be used along with grant funding to <br />complete his proposed project. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance <br />on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR THE 1994-1995 <br />FISCAL YEAR TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE RIO <br />VISTA DAM AND ADJACENT PROPERTY FROM THE SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE <br />UNIVERSITY SUPPORT FOUNDATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. <br />Cox seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of the minutes of <br />the Regular Meeting held November 28, 1994, adoption of three <br />Ordinances on third and final reading, and adoption of three <br />Resolutions on consensus. The Council removed Items S.C. (1) and <br />S.C. (2) to be considered separately. Mr. Guerra moved for approval <br />of the minutes of the Regular Meeting held November 28, 1994, for <br />adoption of the three Ordinances on third and final reading and for <br />adoption of the remaining Resolution on consensus and Mr. Hernandez <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
