RESOLUTION 2017-94R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE AWARD OF AN EMERGENCY <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO ULTIMATE ROOFING SYSTEMS, <br /> INC. THROUGH THE INTERLOCAL PURCHASING SYSTEM ("TIPS") <br /> CONTRACT #2092415 IN THE AMOUNT OF $62,731.02 FOR THE SAN <br /> MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY EMERGENCY ROOF REPAIR PROJECT; <br /> RATIFYING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER'S EXECUTION OF THE <br /> CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. On April 11, 2017 a severe thunderstorm event caused storm water penetration to <br /> the San Marcos Public Library. <br /> 2. Due to the storm water penetration and the poor condition of the twenty year old <br /> roof, the library was flooded with over 38,000 gallons of water and it is necessary to repair the <br /> roof. <br /> 3. City staff recommends the installation of a Duro-Last prefabricated roof system <br /> and the repair of all parapet walls affected by this storm event on an emergency basis and without <br /> formal competitive bidding due to unforeseen damage to public property. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The award of an emergency construction contract to Ultimate Roofing <br /> Systems, Inc. in the amount of$62,731.02 is approved. <br /> PART 2. The Interim City Manager's execution of the contract documents on behalf <br /> of the City is ratified. <br /> PART 3.
