Call To Order <br /> With a quorum present, the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council was <br /> called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in the <br /> City Council Chambers,630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666 <br /> II. Roll Call <br /> Present: 7- Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern <br /> Scott Gregson, Council Member Melissa Derrick, Council Member Jane Hughson, <br /> Council Member Mihalkanin and Mayor John Thomaides <br /> Ill. Invocation <br /> Ben Nelson,with St. Marks Episcopal Church, provided this evening's invocation. <br /> IV. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br /> Council Member Derrick led the assembly in the Pledges of Allegiance. <br /> PRESENTATIONS <br /> 1. Presentation and Staff recognition of the San Marcos Electric Utility Department, San <br /> Marcos Fire Department, and Rachel Ingle, Emergency Management Coordinator. <br /> Mayor Thomaides presented awards of recognition to members of the San Marcos <br /> Fire Department for their volunteer service after the Sutherland Springs tragedy. <br /> The San Marcos Electric Uitlity department received regonition for their efforts <br /> during the Hurricane Harvey event. Rachel Ingle, new Emergency Management <br /> Coordinator was introduced by the City Manager and welcomed to the City. <br /> 6:00 PM <br /> V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br /> Sammy Montoya, spoke on the article that was published in the University Star <br /> paper entitled "Your DNA is an abomination." He stated tax dollars are <br /> City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
