RESOLUTION 2008 -50 R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOMELAND SECURITY -FEMA ("U.S. DHS-FEMA") FOR AN <br />ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT; APPROVING THE CITY'S <br />EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE <br />GENERAL FUND CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH <br />REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION AND ALL <br />CONTRACTS WITH THE U.S. DHS-FEMA AND OTHER PARTIES AS <br />NECESSARY FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />EQUIPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. Grant funding is available from the U.S. DHS-FEMA through the Assistance to <br />Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for the purchase fire department <br />equipment. <br />2. The City wishes to request grant funding from the U.S. DHS-FEMA for this <br />purchase. <br />3. The total project cost is estimated to be in an amount not to exceed $110,000.00, <br />and the City understands that it will be responsible for 20% of the total project costs currently <br />estimated to be in an amount not to exceed $22,000.00. <br />RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. Submission of an application to the U.S. DHS-FEMA for funding through <br />the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the purchase of fire department equipment is <br />approved. <br />PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 20% (in an amount not to exceed <br />$22,000.00) of the total proj ect costs from the General Fund Contingency Account is approved. <br />PART 3. The Interim City Manager, Collette Jamison, is authorized to execute on <br />behalf of the City, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of the City <br />Council all contracts with the U.S. DHS -FEMA, and such other parties as are necessary and <br />appropriate for the purchase of fire department equipment. <br />PART 4.
