RESOLUTION NO.2025-233R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING THE RENAMING OF <br />DUNBAR RECREATION CENTER (LOCATED WITHIN DUNBAR <br />PARK) TO PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER OR HER DESIGNEE TO INSTALL SIGNAGE <br />REFLECTING THE NEW NAME OF THE FACILITY AS MAY BE <br />APPROPRIATE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. During the November 18, 2025, City Council meeting they discussed and <br />provided consensus to reflect the full name of the namesake of the Dunbar Recreation <br />Center, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and that the full name be added to the outside of the <br />current Dunbar Recreation Center facility. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. Dunbar Recreation Center is hereby renamed Paul Laurence <br />Dunbar Recreation Center. <br />PART 2. The City Manager of her designee is authorized to install any signage <br />reflecting the new name of the facility. <br />PART 3.
