RESOLUTION 2008 -71 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ("TXDOT") FOR FY 2009/2010 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS ("CIP") GRANT FUNDING FOR THE COMPLETION OF A FENCING PROJECT AT THE SAN MARCOS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; APPROVING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS CONTINGENT UPON THE CITY COUNCIL'S APPROVAL OF THE APPROPRIATION OF THOSE MATCHING DOLLARS IN THE FY 2009 AND 2010 BUDGETS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY' S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION AND ALL CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS WITH TXDOT AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THESE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SAN MARCOS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. The City of San Marcos (the "city") intends to make certain improvements to the San Marcos Municipal Airport, the general description of the project includes approximately 11,700 linear feet of six foot fencing to enhance security as well as associated additional security gates, signage, and vegetation removal (the "Project"). 2. The City intends to request financial assistance from the Texas Department of Transportation ("TxDOT") for these improvements. 3. The total Project costs are estimated to be $600,000.00, and the City will be responsible for 10% of the total Project costs currently estimated to be $60,000.00. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The City hereby requests FY2009/2010 CIP Grant Funding from TXDOT for improvements to the San Marcos Municipal Airport. PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 10% of the total Project costs from FY 2009/2010 Airport Budgets is approved contingent upon the City Council's approval of the appropriation of those matching dollars.
