The Convention and Visitors Bureau Board (the "Board"), established by City Code <br />Section 2.351, oversees the tourism promotional activities of the San Marcos Area Chamber of <br />Commerce, which are funded with City hotel occupancy taxes. <br /> <br />2. The Board met recently and recommended changes to the composition of the Board, <br />and the City Council adopted an ordinance on September 22, 2003 to implement the <br />recommendations of the Board, with certain changes. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to make further revisions to the composition of the Board. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.351 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates <br />added text; 9Y~fEyik~ indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.351. Created; composition; terms; officers. <br /> <br />(a) The convention and visitors bureau board is created, composed of 11 voting members <br />appointed by the city council as described in subsection (b), and five non-voting ex-officio <br />members: the city manager, the president and a vice-chair of the board of the San Marcos <br />Area Chamber of Commerce, the president of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of <br />Commerce, and the director of the Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council. <br /> <br />(b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following <br />groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board: <br /> <br />No. of appointments <br /> <br />Representing <br /> <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />City Council (Council Member) <br />Hotel/motel owners/operators (fewer than 90 rooms) <br />Hotel/motel owners/operators (90 or more rooms) <br />Tourist attraction owners/operators <br /> <br />1 <br />
