<br />92 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1987- 42R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND <br />APPROVING A CHANGE ORDER TO THE CONTRACT FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE SAN MARCOS, TEXAS PUBLIC <br />WORKS COMPLEX RELATING TO PIERS; PROVIDING <br />THAT THE COMPENSATION AND PRICE FOR ADDITIONAL <br />~¡ORK IS SUBJECT 'ro APPROVAL BY THE CITY <br />COUNCIL; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Harcos, Texas, entered into a <br />contract with Drymalla Construction Company, Inc. on January <br />29, 1987 for the construction of the San Marcos, Texas Public <br />Works Complex; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, ground water has been encountered during <br />construction at an underground level higher than that <br />revealed by test borings made approximately one year ago; <br />and, <br /> <br />HHEREAS, such condition necessitates shortening of the <br />length of the piers to be installed on said project and will <br />also necessitate modification of the type of piers to be used <br />if water is again encountered during installation of the <br />shortened piers and the use of the originally specified type <br />of piers is infeasible; and, <br /> <br />VlHEREAS, substantially high water infiltration into the <br />pier holes may occur, necessitating the encasement of the <br />piers in steel; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That a change order to .that contract of <br />January 29, 1987 for construction of the San Marcos, Texas <br />Public Works Complex is hereby authorized and approved to <br />shorten the length of the piers to be installed on said <br />project and, if water occurs during installation of such <br />shortened piers so that the use of the type of originally <br />specified piers is infeasible, to modify the type of piers to <br />be installed, and in such latter event, to change the <br />contract price to reflect that the unit prices for the <br />modified type of piers installed shall be as set forth below, <br />respectively: <br /> <br />TYPE A PIER: <br /> <br />Change to straight 5411 shaft, <br />steel to remain the same $72.20!LF <br /> <br />TYPE B PIER: <br /> <br />Change to straight 7211 shaft, <br />steel to remain the same $111.57!LF <br /> <br />TYPE C PIER: <br /> <br />Change to straight 8411 shaft, <br />steel to remain the same $144. 72!LF <br /> <br />PART 2. That in the event substantially high water <br />infil tration into any of the pier holes occurs and <br />necessitates the encasement in steel of any or all such <br />piers, then, in such event, such encasement is hereby <br />authorized and approved, the compensation and price for such <br />work being subject to approval by the City Council as soon as <br />practicable after the work commences. <br /> <br />PART 3. That this Resolution shall be in full <br />and effect from and after its passage. <br /> <br />force <br />
