<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BE <br /> <br />152 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 1987-102 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, ADDING A NEW SECTION 10-41 TO PROVIDE <br />CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION <br />CODE, 1985 EDITION AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />IT <br /> <br />ORDAINED <br /> <br />BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. <br /> <br />That a new Section 10-41 is adopted as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 10-41. <br /> <br />Amendments. <br /> <br />The Fire Prevention Code adopted in <br />amended in the following respects: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />10-38 is <br /> <br />hereby <br /> <br />(1) Section 602.6 of the Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1985 <br />Edition, is repealed and the following is adopted in its <br />place: <br /> <br />602.6 <br /> <br />Access To Buildings By Fire Apparatus. <br /> <br />602.6.1 <br /> <br />Every building in the City of San Marcos shall be <br />accessible to fire department apparatus by way of access <br />roadways with all weather driving surface of an <br />unobstructed width as determined by the Fire Marshal, with <br />adequate roadway turning radius capable of supporting the <br />imposed loads of fire apparatus and having a minimum <br />verticle clearance of 13 feet, 6 inches. During <br />construction, when combustibles are brought onto the <br />site in such quantities as deemed hazardous by the Fire <br />Marshal, access roads and a suitable temporary supply <br />of water acceptable to the Fire Marshall shall be <br />provided and maintained. <br /> <br />602.6.2 <br /> <br />The required width of access roadways shall not be <br />obstructed in any manner, including the parking of <br />vehicles. Installation of "no parking" signs or other <br />appropriate notice (such as properly colored curbs) or <br />of approved obstructions inhibiting parking, may be <br />required by the Fire Marshal and if installed shall be <br />maintained by the owner. The owner or his representative <br />of a building which is adjacent to such a fire lane shall <br />be responsible for keeping the fire lane free of <br />obstructions. <br /> <br />602.6.3 <br /> <br />Where fire protection systems approved by the Fire <br />Marshal are provided, the requirements in subsections <br />602.6.1 and 602.6.2 may be modified by the Fire Marshal. <br /> <br />602.6.4 <br /> <br />The marking, notation, configuration, location and size <br />of fire lanes and fire zones on private property devoted <br />to public use shall be as approved by the Fire Marshal. <br /> <br />602.6.5 <br /> <br />Obstructing fire <br />issued by the Fire <br />times. <br /> <br />lanes or fire zones, except by permit <br />Marshal, shall be prohibited at all <br /> <br />602.6.6 <br /> <br />Designated fire lanes or roads deemed by the Fire <br />Marshal necessary for fire department access shall <br />be maintained in an operable condition by the owner of <br />any such designated fire lane or road. <br />
