BE 152 ORDINANCE 1987-102 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADDING A NEW SECTION 10-41 TO PROVIDE CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1985 EDITION AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That a new Section 10-41 is adopted as follows: Sec. 10-41. Amendments. The Fire Prevention Code adopted in amended in the following respects: Section 10-38 is hereby (1) Section 602.6 of the Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1985 Edition, is repealed and the following is adopted in its place: 602.6 Access To Buildings By Fire Apparatus. 602.6.1 Every building in the City of San Marcos shall be accessible to fire department apparatus by way of access roadways with all weather driving surface of an unobstructed width as determined by the Fire Marshal, with adequate roadway turning radius capable of supporting the imposed loads of fire apparatus and having a minimum verticle clearance of 13 feet, 6 inches. During construction, when combustibles are brought onto the site in such quantities as deemed hazardous by the Fire Marshal, access roads and a suitable temporary supply of water acceptable to the Fire Marshall shall be provided and maintained. 602.6.2 The required width of access roadways shall not be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles. Installation of "no parking" signs or other appropriate notice (such as properly colored curbs) or of approved obstructions inhibiting parking, may be required by the Fire Marshal and if installed shall be maintained by the owner. The owner or his representative of a building which is adjacent to such a fire lane shall be responsible for keeping the fire lane free of obstructions. 602.6.3 Where fire protection systems approved by the Fire Marshal are provided, the requirements in subsections 602.6.1 and 602.6.2 may be modified by the Fire Marshal. 602.6.4 The marking, notation, configuration, location and size of fire lanes and fire zones on private property devoted to public use shall be as approved by the Fire Marshal. 602.6.5 Obstructing fire issued by the Fire times. lanes or fire zones, except by permit Marshal, shall be prohibited at all 602.6.6 Designated fire lanes or roads deemed by the Fire Marshal necessary for fire department access shall be maintained in an operable condition by the owner of any such designated fire lane or road.
