<br />17 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1987-113 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, M1ENDING RESOLUTION 1981-1R CONCERNING <br />THE POLICY OF THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING APPOINTMENTS <br />TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the restrictions of Resolution 1981-IR of the City <br />Council on reappointments after the service of two terms on a City <br />board, commission or authority is sometimes too restrictive; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide more flexibility for <br />those limited cases where a reappointment after two terms would be in <br />the best interest of the City of San Marcos; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />COUNCI L OF <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />CITY OF <br /> <br />SAN <br /> <br />r.1ARCOS , <br /> <br />PART 1. That Part 6 of Resolution 1981-lR declaring the policy of <br />the City regarding the appointment and reappointment of members of <br />boards, commissions and authorities be rescinded and a new Part 6 <br />adopted as follows: <br /> <br />Part 6. Notwithstanding the foregoing statement of policies <br />and practices regarding appointments and reappointments to <br />boards, commissions and authorities of the City of San Marcos, <br />the City Council may for good cause, in order to serve the <br />public interest, reappoint, for one additional term only, a <br />person to a board, commission or authority who has served two <br />consecutive terms. Good cause shall include, but not be <br />limited to, a situation where over half of the members on a <br />board, commission or authority are inexperienced with the work <br />of that board, commission or authority for which. the <br />appointment is being considered, in which case, a sufficient <br />number of members may be reappointed to assure that at least <br />half of the members on any board, commission or authority are <br />sufficiently experienced at all times. <br /> <br />PART 2.
