• RESOLUTION 2010 - 37R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR-CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR A GRANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $300,000.00 TO PURCHASE AUTOMATED HAND-HELD TICKET WRITERS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SUCH DOCUMENTS REASONABLY NECESSARY TO PROCURE SUCH GRANT FUNDS IF THE CITY'S APPLICATION IS APPROVED; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. Currently, various law and local code enforcement officers hand write each citation they issue. 2. Employees at the City's Municipal Court must then manually process these citations. 3. Automated hand-held ticket writers will expedite the processing of citations and result in a more efficient use of employee time and resources. 4. The Office of the Governor-Criminal Justice Division is awarding grants to qualifying entities for the purpose of purchasing automated hand-held ticket writers with no matching funds required. The City has identified a need for such automated hand-held ticket writers and wishes to submit an application for such funds in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. City Manager, Rick Menchaca or his designee, is hereby authorized to submit an application in substantially the form attached hereto to the Office of the Governor- Criminal Justice Division for a grant in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00 for the purchase of automated hand-held ticket writers. PART 2. The City Manager or his designee is further authorized to execute any and all documents reasonably necessary to procure the grant funds if said application is approved by the Office of the Governor-Criminal Justice Division. PART 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. 0 1
