<br />287 <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />JULY 27. 1954 <br /> <br />On this the 27th day o~July. 1954, A. D., <br />th~ City Council was called by Mayor Dietterich. <br />9:~O A.M. and the following transpired: <br /> <br />a special meeting o~ <br />The Council met at <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Frank E. 'Dietterich,Mayor <br />Coy De Viney, uAlderman <br />Harold G~ Smith. Alderman <br />Calvin M. Allen, Alderman <br />S.'R. Beecro~t, Alderlllan <br />FrRhk D. Hill, Jr., Alderman <br /> <br />Others present were: W. G. Barbee. Mr. Small, (Russ & Co.) <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dietterich and the <br />following transpired: <br /> <br />There wa:if a lengbhydiscussion on the park subject, during <br />which Mr. Small, representing Russ arid Company, San Antonio, Texas, <br />discussed the indebtedness of the City with the Council. Mr. Small <br />stated that legally it is possible to issue some of the bonds as <br />street improvement bonds. He also stated that the tax valuation . <br />would have to be increased to anaxtent in order to issue $250.000.00 <br />park bonds. After the discussion, Alderman Beecroft made a motion <br />that the whole story be published in the paper so that the people <br />will understand the situation and that the matter be turned over to <br />the Park Board, with the understanding that if $200,000.00 bonds <br />are issued for the park, the assessed Valuation will have to be <br />aoubled. If the Park Board agrees to issue orily$lOO,OOO.OO for <br />park bonds, the assessed valuation would probably not be raised, <br />but the park board will, have to dete~mine whether the bonds will <br />be used for the swimming ppol or the roads and buildings. The <br />Council asks that the Park Board submit their recommendation on <br />August 4 at the regular meeting. AldermanDeViriey seconded the <br />motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously., <br /> <br />Alderman smith then made a motion that Mr.'G. A. Small be <br />appointed as fiscal agent (representing Russ & Co., San Antonio, Tex.) <br />Alderman Allen Seconded the motion.' A vote was taken which resulted <br />unanimously, in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />IIII'. C. B.1I'0hnson had requested that he be givehaiithority <br />to get bids on an additional chlorinator~ Alderman Smith made <br />a motion that he be given saidatithorlty. Alderman Hill seconded <br />the motion.
