-. :f SPECIAL MEETING OCTOBER 4, 1956 On this, the 4th day of october, 1956, at 9:30 A. M., the City Council of the City of Sen Marcos, Texas met in a special meeting at the City Hall in San Marcos with the following members present and participating: I Calvin M. Allen, Acting Mayor B. D. Hillburn, Alderman S. R. Beecroft, Alderman Herman Korff, Alderman W. M. Davis, Alderman others present were: W. G. Barbee Fredericka Hopkins A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Calvin M. Allen and the following transpired: This special meeting was held to discuss further negotiations to complete acquisition of the U. S. Highway 81 right-of-way, from below the Circle to South City Limit Line. It was agreed that a fair basis for acqucrlng the necessary strip on the west side of the highway was to offer a fixed price, based on the acreage price paid Mr. Feltner for property on t"e east side. Calculations showed that this base price is $3,321.72 per acre. Mr. Barbee presented a list of the property owners concerned, showing in acreage, or fractional acreage, the extent of the strip needed from each of them, 3r1d also showing the value thereof, based on $3,321. 72 per acre. I By mutual consent the members of the Council divided this list among themselves, agreeing to devote the time necessary, to negotiating with the owners, and arranging to obtain their signatures to deeds. This course was adopted to avoid the expense to the City of hiring someone to do this work. The Sewer line to Millview Addition then came under consideration and after a short discussion, Mr. Beecroft offered a motion that the work of installing the sewer line to Millview Addition be carried out. Mr. Hillburn seconded the motion, and a vote disclosed the motion was carried unanimously. A discussion of setting a date for the budget hearing was the next business to come before the Council. It was agreed that Wednesday October 24th at 2:00 P.M., in the upstairs Council Room be set as the time and place for such hearing. A motion to this effect was offered by Mr. Beecroft, and seconded by Mr. Hillburn. The motion also instructed the City Secretary to post notice on City Bulletin Board, and to publish notice of same in San Marcos Record. This motion being put to a vote was unanimously in favor of the motion. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 10:15 A. M.
