<br />I <br /> <br />I <br />II <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3!"' -9:1-- <br /> <br />SPECIAL CALLED MEETING HEW ON NOVEMBER 20, 1961 <br /> <br />On the 20th day of November, 1961, at 5:00 o'clock in the <br />afternoon the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in duly <br />called session in the City Hall, Mayor C. Hillburn <br /> <br />Guests <br /> <br />Walter Buckner <br />Jerry Veidt KCNY <br />Bill Veidt KCNY <br />Tom Buckner RECORD <br /> <br />The Mayor explained that the meeting had been called to <br />discuss Workmen's Compensation for city employees, the advertising of <br />bids for the relocation of utilities on Interstate 35 and such other <br />matters as might be properly brought to the attention of the Council. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a code classification of the <br />City's employees with their respective estimated total annual payroll <br />and the Workmen's Compensation rates in effect now and the rates which <br />will be in effect on December 1, 1961. Alderman Younger spoke in favor <br />of the plan and how he felt that it was needed in the City although <br />there had been no seriousoloss time accident. Mr. Walter Buckner ex~ <br />plained some of the details of the plan and how it effected cities. <br />After a detailed and full discussion Alderman Younger made a motion <br />the employees and Volunteer Firemen be placed under Workmen's Com- <br />pensation InSurance and accepted Plan "J" of the Standard Workmen's <br />Compensation Policy including Coverage B ($100,000.00 maximum coverage <br />for an additional 1% of the premium) be placed in effect, retroactive <br />to the pay period beginning November 16, 1961. Alderman Sutton seconded <br />the motion and on roll call all members present voted aye. <br /> <br />The Matter of payment of salary and medical benefits to <br />Eddie Serur, Fireman, who waS hurt while attending a fire was discussed. <br />Alderman Korff made a motion that Fireman Eddie Serur be kept on the <br />payroll until he was able to work and that his doctor's and hospital <br />bills be paid by the city without prejudice to the city's interest or <br />accepting any liability and that he receive a certificate from the doc- <br />tor that he WaS full recovered before going to work. Prior to being <br />reinstated as a paid member of the fire department he would be required <br />to sign a full and complete releas~ relieving the City of any past or <br />future liability as a result of the accident. <br /> <br />Consideration of payment of medical bills and loss time to <br />Frank Ryals was discussed. Alderman Sutton made a motion that Mr. Ryals <br />receive his full salary during the period of disability ana that he be <br />compensated for any medical expense involved in the injury to his back. <br />The motion waS seconded by Alderman Ruiz and carried with a full affir- <br />mative vote. <br /> <br />Alderman Korff made a motion, seconded by Alderman Sutton, <br />that the City Manager proceed with advertising for bids for the reloca- <br />tion of the utilities in the right-of-way of Interstate 35. The date <br />for opening the bids was set for 2;00 o'clock in the afternoon of Dec-- <br />ember 8, 1961 with the tabulation of bids to be reviewed by the Council <br />at the meeting of December 12.
