<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />93 <br /> <br />REsoLurroo NO. 74 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER OF SAID CITY TO SUBMIT <br />AN APPLICATION PURSUANT TO THE IN~ERGOVERN- <br />MENTAL PERSONNEL ACT OF 1970 FOR A GRANT TO <br />FUND A PROJECT ENTITLED "SAN MARCOS PERSONNEL <br />IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM." <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress passed the Inter- <br />governmental Personnel Act of 1970 with the stated purpose <br />of assisting State and local governments to strengthen <br />their staffs by improving their personnel administration; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Act authorized grants to general local <br />governments if such grants will help meet essential needs <br />in programs or projects of national interest and will assist <br />general local governments experiencing special problems in <br />personnel administration related to such programs or projects; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas wishes to take advantage of said Act to develop and <br />maintain needed personnel management elements; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Council specifically wishes to update <br />the City's affirmative action program, employee compensation I <br />plan, job descriptions and employee manual, and to generally <br />improve personnel policies; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City Manager of said City, A.C. <br />Gonzalez, Jr. or his successor, be and is hereby authorized <br />to submit an application entitled "San Marcos Personnel <br />Improvement Program" pursuant to the Intergovernmental <br />Personnel Act of 1970, a copy of said application being <br />attached hereto and incorporated herein for all intents <br />and purposes. <br /> <br />PART 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force <br />and effect immediately upon its passage. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 22nd day of October, 1979. <br /> <br />C\.
