<br />III <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1976-52-R <br /> <br />1- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A LIST OF PRIORITIES FOR CONSIDERATION <br />IN THE PREPARATION OF AN APPLICATION OR APPLICATIONS FOR <br />FEDERAL FUNDS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS <br />UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1976; EXPRESSING A <br />DESIRE TO SUPPORT AND COOPERATE WITH HAYS COUNTY ON THOSE <br />ITEMS OF MUTUAL CONCERN; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO DEVELOP <br />AN APPLICATION OR APPLICATIONS FOR THE ITEM OR ITEMS IN THEIR <br />PRIORITY LISTING WHICH ARE THE DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL AND TO ASSIST, IF REQUESTED, IN THE PREPARATION <br />OF AN APPLICATION OR APPLICATIONS FOR THOSE PRIORITY ITEMS WHICH <br />ARE THE DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY OF HAYS COUNTY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Congress recently enacted into law the Public Works Employlllent Act <br />of 1976 which provides funds for the construction of public works projects in <br />areas beset with high unemploylllent; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a public works employlllent program would be of great benefit to San Marcos <br />and Hays County in that it would provide worthwhile employlllent to large numbers of <br />unemployed persons in this area, it would boost the local economy by providing for <br />an additional source of income, and it would provide the citizens of the City of <br />San Marcos and Hays County with valuable public works improvements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to participate in this program through the <br />submission of an application or applications for projects under this program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to rank these projects in their order of <br />importance ot the community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Part 1. That the following list of public works improvement projects should be <br />considered as priorities, in the order of their listing, in the preparation of an <br />application or applications for federal funds to be made available under the Public <br />Works Employlllent Act of 1976, to-wit: <br /> <br />l. Fresh Water Storage facilities in the southwest and <br />northeast areas of the city <br /> <br />2. A Multi-purpose Social Services center <br /> <br />3. Hays County Civic Center, Phase II <br /> <br />4. Parks and recreational facilities <br /> <br />5. Water and sewer in Westover area <br /> <br />6. Renovation of old city hall bUilding for museum purposes <br /> <br />7. Purgatory Creek improvements <br /> <br />Part 2. That the City Council wishes to express its desire to support and cooperate <br />with the Hays County JUdge and Commissioners Court on those priority items of mutual <br />concern to the City and County. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Part 3. That the City Manager be directed to develop an application or applications <br />for those priority items which are the direct responsibility of the City Council, <br />and to assist, if requested, Hays County officials in the preparation of an applicati< <br />or applications for those priority items which are the direct responsibilit:r of <br />Hays County. <br /> <br />Part 4. That any of the above mentioned improvement projects which are deemed by <br />officials of the federal government to be ineligible or .imappropriate for fllnding <br />under the Public Works Improvements Act of 1976 will be removed from the priority <br />list and applications will not be developed by city staff for those priority items <br />so removed. <br />
