MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS, AUGUST 25, 1981 <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor <br /> <br />Emmie Craddock <br /> <br />Council Members <br /> <br /> Karl W. Brown <br />* Robert L. Cavazos <br /> Berry R. James <br /> John A. Kreczmer <br /> Elida A. Mendez <br /> Tess Norris <br /> <br />City Manager <br />City Secretary <br />City Attorney <br />Director of Finance <br /> <br />A. C. Gonzalez <br />Janis K. Womack <br />Barbara Edwards <br />Earl Williams <br /> <br />Also Present: Gene Hildebrandt, Gregg Echols, Jerri Martin, Chris <br />Bishop, Charles Stone, ~Ken.Long and others. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock opened the public hearing on the proposed property <br />tax increase. No one wished to speak for or against the proposed <br />property tax increase, so Mayor Craddock closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of the proposed <br />increase to raise property taxes in San Marcos by six (6%) percent. <br />Mr. James moved that the property taxes be raised ~by six (6%) percent <br />and Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock stated she would entertain a ~motion to set a date, <br />time and place for a public meeting to adopt the actual tax rate. <br />Mrs. Norris moved that there be a public meeting September 8, 1981 <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers to adopt the tax rate and Mr. <br />James seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. on motion of Mr. James and second- <br /> <br />ed by Mr. Brown. <br /> <br /> Karl W.
