<br />167. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-137 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR <br />A PROPOSED REGENT CARE CENTER IN THE CITY; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. WHEREAS, Regent Care Centers is considering the development of a new nursing/care <br />facility in San Marcos; and <br /> <br />2. WHEREAS, Regent Care Centers has requested a resolution of support from the City <br />Council for the development of a new nursing/care facility in San Marcos; and <br /> <br />3. WHEREAS, the proposed nursing! care facility would involve 140 beds and would employ <br />200 persons, including registered nurses and certified nursing assistants, with an estimated annual <br />payroll of $5,000,000; and <br /> <br />4. WHEREAS, the proposed nursing/care facility would have higher staffing ratios and more <br />direct care hours than average long-term care providers; and <br /> <br />5. WHEREAS, Regent Care Centers has pledged to be a valuable corporate citizen by <br />sponsoring a variety oflocal charitable events such as blood drives, food drives, health fairs, public <br />service activities, and health-related seminars and screenings; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos supports the development by Regent <br />Care Centers of a new nursing/care facility in San Marcos. <br /> <br />PART 2.
