RESOLUTION N0.2008- 171 R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF AN <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND WINSTEAD PC <br />FOR LEGISLATIVE CONSULTING SERVICES DURING THE <br />2009 STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE SESSIONS; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />EXTENSION LETTER; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />RECITALS <br />1. During the upcoming legislative session there are a number of issues that are going to <br />be considered that will have an effect on the City of San Marcos. Winstead PC will <br />provide valuable services to the City with regard to these crucial issues. <br />2. The City of San Marcos and Winstead PC previously entered into a letter agreement <br />for state and federal legislative representation for the time period beginning January <br />1, 2008 and ending December 31, 2008. The letter agreement was dated July 23, <br />2008 and was approved by Resolution No. 2008-1 l OR on August 5, 2008. <br />3. The City of San Marcos and Winstead PC wish to extend the agreement on the terms <br />described below in this resolution. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The letter agreement (Agreement) dated July 23, 2008 for state and federal <br />legislative representation entered into between the City of San Marcos, Texas and Winstead PC <br />is hereby extended on the following terms: <br />a. The $5,000.00 monthly retainer for state governmental relations representation is <br />extended until September 30, 2009. <br />b. The $15,000 monthly retainer for federal governmental relations representation is <br />extended on a month-to-month basis but shall not be extended beyond September 30, <br />2009 without approval of the San Marcos City Council. <br />c. All other provisions of the Agreement shall remain the same. <br />PART 2. The City Manager, Rick Menchaca, is authorized to execute an extension letter <br />containing the terms set forth in Part 1 of this resolution. <br />PART 3. This Resolution is in full force and effect immediately from and after its <br />adoption. <br />ADOPTED this 16th day of December, 2008.
