ORDINANCE NO. 2010 - 47 <br />• AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE BY <br />ADDING A NEW CHAPTER NUMBERED AS CHAPTER 19 TO <br />PROVIDE FOR THE REGULATION OF SPECIAL EVENTS; <br />ESTABLISHING A PERMIT SYSTEM AND RULES AND <br />REGULATIONS FOR OBTAINING PERMITS FOR SUCH EVENTS; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. Ina regular meeting dated May 4, 2010, the City Council directed the staff to develop <br />an ordinance to regulate carnivals. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS: <br />SECTION 1. The San Marcos City Code is hereby amended by adding a new chapter to read as <br />follows: (deletions are shown with stfikethfoug , additions are underlined) <br />"Chapter 19 SPECIAL EVENTS <br />• Article 1. In General <br />Sec. 19.001 - Reserved <br />Article 2 — Special Events Permits <br />Sec. 19.002. - Definitions. <br />Applicant means a person who has filed an application for a special event. <br />City means the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br />Person means any individual, assumed named entity, partnership, association corporation or <br />organization. <br />Premises means the location at which the special event is being held. <br />Special Event means a temporary event, at�g or organized activity to be held within the <br />city and is likely to attract 100 or more visitors including but not limited to circuses carnivals <br />carnival side shows, and other similar amusement enterprises. <br />• <br />
