<br />179. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2001- 71 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OFTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING A JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND HAYS COUNTY FOR THE HOLDING OF A <br />JOINT ELECTION ON JUNE 2,2001; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, finds and determines that <br />it is in the best interest of the City to cooperate with Hays County (the "County") in holding <br />a joint election on June 2, 2001, if a runoff election is necessary for one or both City <br />Council races that are on the ballot for the May 5, 2001 City general election. <br /> <br />2. <br />2001. <br /> <br />Hays County is willing to participate in holding a joint election on June 2, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1 . The Joint Election Agreement attached to this Resolution between the <br />City of San Marcos and the Hays County for holding a joint election on June 2, 2001 is <br />approved, for use if a runoff election is necessary for one or both City Council races that <br />are on the ballot for the May 5, 2001 City general election. <br /> <br />PART 2. The City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is authorized to execute the joint <br />election agreement if City Council calls for a run-off election on June 2, 2001. <br /> <br />PART 3.
