B 134. <br />rIo'" ~ ~a <br />*-'0 ~ ~ iJ <br />IJJ g ,.:;", Li.i :!i <br />:!j ~ ~~ ORDINANCE 2000 - ~ <br />IL~ ~; <br />'< C;3y <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 106, SIGNS, OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE, <br />PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING <br />ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Chapter 106, Article 3, Section 106.075, of the San <br />Marcos City Code, is amended to read as follows (underlininq indicates added <br />language; an overstrike indicates deleted language): <br /> <br />Sec. 106.075. Temporary signs. <br /> <br />(a) Temporary signs are subject to the limitations indicated in this section, as <br />well as the location restrictions in section 106.008. Portable signs are separately <br />regulated in section 106.076. Freestanding inverted "V" signs are permitted on <br />sidewalks only within the central business area zoning district. <br /> <br />(b) Temporary signs shall not exceed the following area limitations: <br /> <br />(1) One hundred sixty square feet each for premises within the highway <br />corridor; <br /> <br />(2) Twelve square feet each for premises occupied by single- or two- <br />family residential uses; and <br /> <br />(3) Forty square feet each on all other premises. <br /> <br />(c) The number of temporary signs other than political signs displayed on a <br />premises at any given time is limited according to the land use of the premises as <br />follows: <br /> <br />(1) Single-family, two-family and mobile home residential uses. One sign <br />per street frontage. <br /> <br />(2) All other uses. Two signs per street frontage or two per driveway, <br />whichever is greater. <br /> <br />(d) Permits are not required for temporary signs, except for banner signs <br />over public rights-of-way, which shall be limited to community information signs. <br /> <br />(e) Temporary signs are subject to the following limitations of the duration of <br />their use: <br /> <br />(1) Political signs pertaining to a candidate or issue in an election. No <br />more than 60 days before the election nor more than seven days after <br />tho election. <br /> <br />(12:) Construction signs. During the period of construction. <br /> <br />(~J) Real estate signs. During the period in which the subject property is <br />for sale or lease. <br /> <br />(~4) All other temporary signs. Ninety days. <br />
