The Sunset Advisory Commission, in its June 14, 2004 report to the City Council, <br />recommended that the City Council retire the Human Development Commission. <br /> <br />2. The City Council wishes to implement this recommendation of the Sunset Advisory <br />Commission. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to have the present members of the Human Development <br />Commission serve as an ad hoc advisory committee to the Parks and Recreation Department to <br />oversee the Women's Hall of Fame awards process for 2004. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Division 5, Human Development Commission, of Chapter 2, Article 3 of <br />the City Code is repealed, and the Human Development Commission is retired, and the terms of <br />office of the current members of this commission are concluded. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. In connection with the retirement of the Human Development Commission <br />by this ordinance, the City Council designates the Parks and Recreation Department to be <br />responsible for overseeing the Women's Hall of Fame awards program. The Director of the <br />Parks and Recreation Department shall appoint an ad hoc committee each year to oversee the <br />program. For purposes of the 2004 Women's Hall of Fame awards program, the City Council <br />designates the present members of the Human Development Commission as this year's ad hoc <br />committee. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is <br />held to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of <br />this ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the invalid portion. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. All ordinances and resolution or parts of ordinances or resolutions in <br />conflict with this ordinance are repealed. <br /> <br />1 <br />
