<br />132 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1999- 89R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS EXPRESSING THE CITY'S SUPPORT FOR CERTAIN LEGISLATION <br />PENDING IN THE 76TH TEXAS LEGISLATURE, AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to express the City's support for certain legislation <br />pending in the 76th Texas Legislature; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS. TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City of San Marcos supports the following legislation: <br /> <br />· S.B. 7 (Sibley)-Retail electric deregulation <br /> <br />· H.B. 485 (Hill)-Validation of municipal actions <br /> <br />· S.B.1283 (Wentworth)-Authorizing city gasoline tax for street maintenance (effective <br />only if S.J.R. 29 is passed and constitutional amendment approved by voters) <br /> <br />· S.B. 1759 (Barrientos)/H.B. 1718 (Dukes)-Authorizing use of state Crime Victims <br />Compensation Fund for city crime victim programs <br /> <br />· H.B. 954 (Uher) and S.B. 693 (Cain)-Limiting property tax notices and public hearings <br />to increases in the tax rate <br /> <br />· S.B. 598 (Duncan)-Limiting city liability for Y2K-associated computer problems <br /> <br />· H.B. 423 (Tumer)/S.B. 710(Nixon)-Expanding county authority over subdivision <br />platting <br /> <br />· C.S.H.B. 2108 (Cook)-Funding for development of public parks <br /> <br />PART 2. The positions expressed in this resolution apply to the most recent versions of the <br />bills as of the date of this resolution. These positions are subject to change as the legislative <br />session progresses and revisions are made to the bills. <br /> <br />PART 4.
