RESOLUTION 2012 - 44 R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING AN EMERGENCY CONSTRUCTION <br />CONTRACT WITH HOLLOMAN CORPORATION, INC IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $485,000.00 FOR THE MAIN LIFT STATION <br />EMERGENCY REPAIR PROJECT; RATIFYING THE CITY <br />MANAGER'S EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. The City's main lift station located on River Road near Interstate 35 is one of the <br />City's primary lift stations conveying wastewater to the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br />2. Two of the four discharge pipes within the lift station have failed due to <br />deterioration and while temporary repairs have been made to keep the lift station operational it is <br />necessary to completely replace the discharge piping in order to avert another failure. <br />3. City staff requested construction quotes from four separate contractors and, on <br />April 2, 2012, received two quotes with Holloman Corporation, Inc. providing the lowest quote. <br />4. The City has entered into a construction contract for the Main Lift Station <br />Emergency Repair Project (the "Project ") with Holloman Corporation on an emergency basis due <br />to unforeseen damage to property without formal competitive bidding in order to protect the <br />public health and safety of the City's residents. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The award of an emergency construction contract to Holloman <br />Corporation for the Main Lift Station Emergency Repair Project in the amount of $485,000.00 is <br />approved. <br />PART 2. The City Manager, James R. Nuse's, execution of the contract documents <br />on behalf of the City is ratified. <br />PART 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and <br />after its passage. <br />ADOPTED this the 1st day of May, 2012. <br />
