<br /> 89 <br /> RESOLUTION 1997- 42 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE <br /> JUDGES TO SERVE IN A JOINT GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION BY <br /> THE CITY TO BE HELD ON MAY 3, 1997; CHARGING THE JUDGES <br /> - WITH THE DUTY TO HOLD THIS ELECTION IN THEIR RESPECTIVE <br /> POLLING PLACES FOR EACH RESPECTIVE PRECINCT; APPOINTING <br /> AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT BOARD; APPOINTING A PRESIDING JUDGE <br /> OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, A TABULATION SUPERVISOR <br /> OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, AND A CENTRAL COUNTING <br /> STATION MANAGER; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE <br /> PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION OF <br /> CERTAIN' 'CLERKS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE <br /> TABULATION SUPERVISOR OF CERTAIN ASSISTANTS; APPROVING <br /> THE APPOINTMENT BY THE EARLY VOTING CLERK OF CERTAIN <br /> DEPUTY EARLY VOTING CLERKS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> RECITALS: . <br /> 1. On February 10,1997, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, adopted <br /> an ordinance ordering the holding of a joint general and special election by the City and <br /> the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District on May 3, 1997, establishing <br /> the rate of compensation to be paid judges, clerks, and assistants to the tabulation <br /> supervisor for services rendered during the election, making provisions for the conduct of <br /> the election and other provisions incident to the purposes thereof, and declaring an <br /> emergency. <br /> 2. Section 5 of that ordinance provides that the City Council of the City shall by <br /> resolution duly adopted, appoint presiding and alternate judges to serve in the election at <br /> the polling places for the respective precincts set forth in Section 4 thereof, and that <br /> ordinance further ordains that it shall be each judge's duty to hold the election in the <br /> precincts and that any vacancies occurring after the appointment of the judges may be <br /> filled by subsequent resolution(s) of the City Council. <br /> 3. Section 16 of that ordinance provides that the City Council of the City shall, by <br /> resolution duly adopted, appoint the Early Voting Ballot Board, a Presiding Judge of the <br /> Central Counting Station, a Tabulation Supervisor of the Central Counting Station, and <br /> a Central Counting Station Manager. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1.
